Where to Eat:

1. El Bazaar Café

Rated #1 as the best restaurant in Kuta Lombok (On Tripadvisor), El bazaar is the best Mediterranean restaurant that I’ve ever tried! The restaurant is well decorated with a touch of Moroccan atmosphere and a cozy open area. We had Saffron and Lemon Chicken Tangine for dinner cooked in actual tangine pots! Served with pita bread, cooked pumpkin and potatoes and I also ordered the Beef Kebab Skewer too – and I must say that it’s a must try menu! And oh, their Mezze Platter with Salmon is also a big winner, a sharing plate for 2 served up with endless prata bread in various dressing, very tasty. In addition, they also have a great selection of juices and coffee. Perfect place if you want to a bit of break from local food while having various vegetarian cuisines as well!

Price range from Rp 100.000 – Rp 150.000 (7.5$ - 11$ USD)

2. Shu Restaurant Bar

Just 300 meters away from Asthari Lounge & Kitchen, you can enjoy your sunset with a drink in a more open area surrounded by hills on both sides and a straight view into the bay of Kuta Beach. At night after the sunset, this place feels really magical which is best place to end your day!

Price range from Rp 50.000 – Rp 100.000 (4$ - 7.5$ USD)

3. Milk Expresso

We stopped by at Milk Espresso just because the interior is quite eye-catching with modern and industrial tropical theme which is #instagramworthy. The café serves lunch and breakfast with a western menu. The quality of the food is amazing, hands down for this awesome smoothie bowl, definitely my favorite! And their carbonara pasta was divine! Cooked perfectly al dente with creamy sauce so tasty! At night, there’s a live acoustic every Wednesday and Friday, of course we would recommend for anyone who looking for a decent coffee shop in Kuta.

Price range from Rp 50.000 – Rp 150.000 (4$ - 7.5$ USD)

4. KRNK Café

If you are craving for European food, this café is the answer for you. Located on the right side of the main road of Kuta (actually, it’s owned by the same owners of El Bazaar). And you should try their famous burgers – good quality of meat and well put together, and the hand cut fries was good as well. It makes the burgers are worth every penny! They also have a great selection of healthy food from granola, yoghurt until salad bowl and healthy drinks too (like Kombucha). The interior décor is industrial with a modern twist sets the whole atmosphere which such a good place to chill or talk over with friends.

Price range from Rp 50.000 – Rp 150.000 (4$ - 7.5$ USD)

5. Kenza Café

This café looks eye-catching from outside because its dominated by white and tosca color inspired from the beauty of Lombok. Just as other Kuta Lombok cafes, of course they offer a line of healthy foods and vegan friendly). Even though it’s a bit pricey for Indonesian standards but it’s totally worth the price based on quality of the food. Just make sure you try the smoothies and the desserts.

Price range from Rp 65.000 – Rp 150.000 (5$ - 7.5$ USD)

Tips:

  • The best time to visit Lombok probably from the beginning of July until September, you can almost be sure that the sun is shining throughout the day.

  • Note if you go at peak season, just make sure you already make your booking as soon as possible because the hotel and flight prices could be more expensive and sold out very fast.

  • If you decided to visit during rainy season (October – March/April), you should plan for a whole day just in case you didn’t make it at certain destination, so you have a backup plan.

  • It’d be easier for you to take motorbike to reach all the destinations since its way cheaper.

  • Make sure to prepare enough cash and snack to make your trip easier

  • Almost every destinations in Lombok, there’s an entrance fee or parking fee, so prepare your small changes upfront.
